{"id":126,"date":"2011-01-03T12:19:55","date_gmt":"2011-01-03T10:19:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/vpv.kapsi.fi\/blog\/?p=126"},"modified":"2011-01-03T12:19:55","modified_gmt":"2011-01-03T10:19:55","slug":"running-linux-on-a-lenovo-ideapad-s12-part-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vpv.kapsi.fi\/blog\/2011\/01\/running-linux-on-a-lenovo-ideapad-s12-part-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Running Linux on a Lenovo Ideapad S12, part 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/vpv.kapsi.fi\/blog\/2010\/12\/running-linux-fedora-on-a-lenovo-ideapad-s12\/\">Here&#8217;s the first post of what seems to be a series of posts now.<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>acer-wmi<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mail-archive.com\/platform-driver-x86@vger.kernel.org\/msg01027.html\">I wrote about acer-wmi being loaded on this netbook to the kernel&#8217;s platform-driver-x86 mailing list.<\/a> That resulted in Chun-Yi Lee writing <a href=\"https:\/\/bugzilla.kernel.org\/attachment.cgi?id=42172\">a patch<\/a> which adds the S12 to the acer-wmi blacklist. <a href=\"https:\/\/bugzilla.kernel.org\/show_bug.cgi?id=16570\">Here&#8217;s the bug report.<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>ideapad-laptop<\/h2>\n<p>I did a bit of googling on the ideapad-laptop module and noticed that Ike Panhc had written a series of patches which enable a few more of the Fn keys on the S12. The git repository for those patches is <a href=\"http:\/\/kernel.ubuntu.com\/git?p=ikepanhc\/ideapad-laptop.git;a=summary\">here<\/a>. Those patches are also in linux-next already.<\/p>\n<p>So, I cloned Linus&#8217; master git tree, applied the acer-wmi patch and then <tt>git pull<\/tt>ed Ike&#8217;s repo. Then I followed <a href=\"http:\/\/fedoraproject.org\/wiki\/BuildingUpstreamKernel\">these instructions<\/a>, expect that now Fedora&#8217;s sources are in git, so you need to do something like <tt>fedpkg co kernel;cd kernel;fedpkg prep<\/tt> and then find the suitable config file for you.
